During the March rains of 1981, the public at the Palácio das Artes in Belo Horizonte got to see, for the first time in 20 years, a recital by Antonio Carlos Jobim in the capital city of Minas Gerais. Still touched by the loss of the poet, Vinicius de Moraes, who had died less than a year before, Tom gave a particularly emotional presentation of his songs in homage to his main partners in life and in music.

With just the piano, Tom sung, played, and talked. Covering famous numbers like “Desafinado”, “One Note Samba”, “Dindi”, “Agua de Beber” and “Eu Sei Que Vou Te Amar”. As well as his own music & lyrics, the songs reflected his many composing collaborations, not only with Vinicius but also Chico Buarque, Newton Mendonça, Dolores Duran and Aloysio de Oliveira. A magical evening indeed, by one of the undisputed fathers of modern Brazilian music, now released on CD for the first time.
