Pianist Frank Melrose was the younger brother of Walter and Lester who ran the Melrose Bros music store and as publishers and agents were heavily involved in the Chicago jazz and blues scene of the ‘20s & ‘30s.They did business with Jelly Roll Morton and Frank became a Jelly Roll acolyte as well as a pal who jammed with him occasionally in the South Side clubs. He made some recordings around this time but this session has never been issued before…. trio,solo and quintet sides with Pete Daily, cornet.
