Composer, arranger, orchestra-leader, David Rose was born in London, in 1910, and died in Burbank, in 1990. He wrote "The Stripper" for a 1958 television show called "Burlesque", starring Dan Dailey but it was forgotten about until a LA radio DJ discovered it and played it constantly until it took off and went on to sell over 2 million copies! Besides writing the musical theme for "Bonanza", Rose worked on the late 1960s western series, "High Chaparral". He won a total of 4 Emmy Awards during the course of his career. He also wrote : Holiday For Strings, as well as film music for operation Petticoat, Please Don’t Eat The Daisies, and many more.
This CD presents David Rose and his orchestra performing 24 tracks written by some of the finest composers in jazz and film music, such as Irving Berlin, Duke Ellington and Cole Porter, etc - and including two of his own. Splendid sound quality and 20-bit remastering.
