This is a reissue of the 2nd album (recorded in 2000) by Madrid singer, Diego Ramón Jiménez Salazar - nicknamed El Cigala (Spanish for 'Norway lobster’) by El Camarón de la Isla - from whom he has become the keeper of the flame for a new golden age of Flamenco. He came to international notice in 2004 when he recorded the “Lagrimas Negras” album with Cuban legend Bebo Valdes - which won the Boundary Crossing category in the 2005 BBC World Music Awards, and topped the US World Music charts, among many other awards & plaudits.

But El Cigala’ was already a well-established performer in Spain - rising from street singer to backing vocalist for many stars, to a solo career in 1994 and his first CD in 1998. On this album, he is accompanied by virtuoso guitarist Niño Josele and a substantial group of percussionists, who together reinterpret traditional flamenco - and it was the pure power of this album that led to him signing with BMG. Diego has also worked with Paco de Lucía, Jerry Gonzalez, Camarón, Enrique Morente, Gerardo Nuñez, Ketama, Vicente Amigo, and Oscar-winning film director, Fernando Trueba.
