A painstaking trawl through the archives has unearthed dance band recordings from Russia, Czechoslovakia and Poland as well as Switzerland, Germany, Belgium, France and England. In the ‘40s, despite the war, the swing craze spread right across the continent. Although many bands relied on stock American arrangements this selection of tracks concentrates largely on home grown tunes and charts which reflect European style.
