Amadou & Mariam deservedly hit big time with their album ‘Dimanche à Bamako, a collection of well-produced bluesy, sometimes psychedelic, African songs with the deft addition of Manu Chao on production and contributing to a few of the tracks.

This phenomenon launched them on a successful Europe-wide tour, including the UK, and recognition outside of the World Music fraternity.

This set is very much a complement to the album, by being not only a DVD featuring live footage from the tour, with a behind-the-scenes documentary of the action, interviews and video clips, but also a fully-fledged 12 track live album on CD.

Beautifully packaged by Because, the French pioneering label, the set makes for interesting viewing and great listening. The warmth of their live shows and their strength of personality come across.
