Robert Gordon was never a mere revivalist but someone who extended the rock & roll legacy by living and breathing the music. Though his singing echoes the sound of early Elvis, Gene Vincent, Johnny Burnette and obscure rockabilly bands he is also influenced by the great black acts who performed in touring r ‘n’ b revues in the early ‘60s Washington of his teens. Originally issued in 1992, “Greetings from New York” was compiled from various soundboard and 8-track sources recorded over a period of almost ten years. The band features regular collaborator Chris Spedding on guitar –- another legendary guitarist, the late Danny Gatton, appears on three tracks. Bonus tracks are from an earlier album: “Live at the Lone Star”.
