When Art Farmer moved to Vienna in the late ‘60s he had already begun to favour the warmer toned flugelhorn over the trumpet. Homecoming was recorded in 1971 during one of Farmer’s trips back to the States. Jimmy Heath (playing flute and saxes) and pianist Cedar Walton joined him for this session and the result was a varied and exciting LP which finally gets it first CD release. Two bonus tracks are from the 1972 Heidelberg Jazz Festival find Farmer playing with renowned Danish bassist Niels-Henning Orsted Pedersen.
