Karl Lagerfeld is one of the more iconic of contemporary fashion designers. Gifted with striking features, a strong style sense and prolific design talent, he has stamped his mark on the fashion conscious for the last quarter century.

Working under his own brand, Lagerfeld Gallery, a long collaboration with Chanel (since 1983) and with Fendi, Karl Lagerfeld has been one of the main driving forces behind High Fashion. A campaign with H&M stores in late 2005 caused furious public demand for his clothing and accessories at affordable prices, and the stock lasted only 48 hours.

Time, then, to make another expression; musical taste. Whatever preconceptions one may entertain are almost certainly not reflected on this fine 2CD set of Karl Lagerfeld’s choice of tracks. The selection is by degrees surprising, authoritative and demanding.

The CD ‘At home’ reflects some of Karl’s personal taste, whilst ‘At work’ takes material from the 2006 Chanel shows, mixed by DJ Michel Gaubert.

The collection is the result of a partnership between French Vogue Magazine and the French label Tolerance Records, and is the first of a series of personality music profiles.
