Danish band with unusual name & lineup : Fra De Varme Lande means ”from strange and warm countries far, far away...” and they are : Anders Vesterdahl, accordion; Niclas Knudsen – Guitar; Stefan Pasborg – Drums; and Jakob Munck – Tuba & Vocals. Knudsen & Pasborg are both members of acclaimed jazz trio Ibrahim Electric. Here the band serve up a wonderful album of oddball jazz with a strong Balkan influence and an indie-rock undertow. Not immediately comparable to anyone - which takes some doing, these days.
