Another Volume 2, this time in a 3-disc series devoted to the complete string quartets of Joseph-Guy Ropartz (Volume I is on 1C1099) – another French composer for whom TIMPANI is performing an invaluable service. All 3 works were composed late in Ropartz’s long life (these are world-première recordings of the 5th and 6th quartets), and the performances are again in the capable hands of the Nancy-based Stanislas Quartet.
