The Orphans is the new Kristeen Young album, which she will be showcasing, supporting Morrissey on his upcoming UK & European tour. The album, produced by studio legend Tony Visconti, is a live, raw recording of Kristeen's affected, overdriven piano (that really wants to be a guitar), her distinctive, highly individual, attention-grabbing vocals, and Baby Jeff White's bombastic, OTT drum stylings. The album's title and interwoven themes refer to Kristeen's experiences in this world as an "adopted", bi-racial infant/child and then, as a struggling "DIY rock artist" adult.
Her two previous albums were : Breasticles (2003) featuring David Bowie on one track; and X (2004) with Placebo’s Brian Molko as a guest. Both also produced by Tony Visconti. These albums, plus her support appearances on Morrissey’s 2005 UK tour have won her a growing fanbase in the UK and Europe.
A single Kill The Father, from the album, was released in the UK on Morrissey's Attack label in August, and a second single, London Town, is due out on 4th December. Morrissey’s UK tour begins at Glasgow on December 2nd, and moves on to Newcastle, Nottingham, Birmingham, London Wembley & Manchester.
