Daniel Propper was just 13 when he heard Glenn Gould’s recording of the Goldberg Variations (on a piano, of course). Now in his 30s, he has been studying this miraculous score ever since, whilst building a notable career, and on January 8th 2007 he will play the Goldbergs at the Wigmore Hall. Early reports suggest his performance may create something of a critical sensation - certainly this CD, recorded on a thoroughly modern Fazioli grand, reveals an exciting artist with plenty to say about his chosen repertoire.
