This is US drummer Steve Williams’ debut album as leader, but he’s been highly active on the international jazz scene for well over 20 years. On this dynamic recording he’s gathered an exceptional band : Olivier Hutman (p), Michael Bowie (b), Donvonte McCoy (t), et Antoine Roney (s). with special guests John Hicks, Gary Bartz & Roy Hargrove. The compositions all emanate from band members, including 4 from Williams himself - creating an exciting, flowing rhythmic, post-bop session of exceptional quality.

Williams was a regular member of Shirley Horn’s group from 1987 up to her final Verve CD in 2005, recording 15 albums with her; early on, he was in Monty Alexander’s band; then played with many touring stars including Freddie Hubbard, Milt Jackson, Woody Shaw, Eddie Henderson & Mulgrew Miller; while he’s recorded with Carmen McRae, Brandford and Wynton Marsalis, Clifford Jordan, Joe Williams, John Hicks, Toots Thielemans and even the Vienna Art Orchestra.
