A Chupacabras in Latin American folklore is a fabled, vampiric creature wont to attack flocks of goats or sheep and feed on their blood. The seven musicians of the band Chupacabras, however live peacefully in Cologne, having originated from many different parts of the globe: including Mexico, Peru, Spain, Poland and Germany. This variety naturally influences and colours their music : a bubbling mixture of Latin American folklore - Cumbia, Salsa & Reggae with large shots of Dancehall, Hip Hop and Funkgroove. The title of their debut album is Fieras (wild animals) and they mix these styles to create an infectious, joyous, rhythmic fusion - so, party animals, as well. Unsurprisingly, Chupacabras have already established a strong reputation as a live act. However, the Spanish texts of their songs concern themselves with socially important topics such as inequality and poverty, personal freedom, brotherly love and the life force.
