This double set, a music CD and an enhanced CD features 64 relentless tracks, film clips, unreleased material and much more! It makes for the ultimate Lydia Lunch compilation, entitled Deviations on a theme. And released by Provocateur media. Bringing to the front line 32 music tracks (some issued here for the first time) plus 32 edited spoken word tracks, the collection provides the listener with an almost theatrical presentation spanning 30 years’ work by one of the most controversial and visionary artists ever to emerge from the New York underground scene of the late 1970’s -- and who continues to be a major influence on an entire new generation today. The compilation is produced by Tom Garretson working closely with Lydia Lunch. Songs include collaborations with Nick Cave, JG Thrilwell, James Chance & the Contortions, The Anubian Lights, Rowland S. Howard, Glyn Styler, Kristian Hoffman and Sonic Youth, among others. As an artist, performer, writer and actress, she’s carved out her own pathway from the underground to the outer limits of music, art and literature. Called a confrontational artist, she provides a breath of fresh air in an industry rancid with commercialism, and remains truly alternative while others have gone mainstream. From her first work (produced by Eno) in which she virtually created a movement (No Wave), to her refusal to follow any format or predictability, she has set the pace which others follow.
