The piano is not a traditional ‘klezmer’ instrument - perhaps not surprising for what was by origin a travelling, nomadic, unwritten musical heritage. Denis Cuniot, however, has adapted klezmer material for this delightful album of solo piano. Cuniot’s success in this venture is undoubtedly helped by his long association with klezmer musicians, especially clarinettists Nano Peylet of Bratsch and Yomguih of Klezmer Nova.
