For generations the Baranovsky family and their cousins have been playing the wild , sweet wedding music of Podolia and now three brothers -- Vasyl, Volodymyr & Vyacheslav -- who form the nucleus of Konsonans Retro are continuing the uninterrupted family tradition. Their home region near the Moldavian border has become over time a treasure store of music which has thrived on the ethnic fusion of Ukrainians, Moldovans, Jews, Gypsies and Russians. A band that can play all night – until the last guest has passed out, they also sing in six voice acapella the soulful Ukrainian songs learned from childhood.
