‘Fragments from a Space Cadet’ is the debut album from Denmark’s leading DJ Kenneth Bager and follows hot on the heels of his ‘Luftkastellet 4’ compilation, also released on his own Music For Dreams imprint. On ‘Fragments From A Space Cadet’ Kenneth boils all of his many influences from dance, electronica, world, dub, ambient, jazz, leftfield and pop into a melting pot of soundscapes, atmospheres and songs to create an album of boundless musical styles. Featuring contributions from Julee Cruise (three tracks), Camilla Munck, Gisli, Jacob Fischer, Syd Matters and legendary jazz violinist Jean Luc Ponty, all the ‘fragments’ add up to one unique storytelling whole.
Kenneth Bager is a man with serious music history. He became a legendary trendsetter and DJ in the late 1980s in Copenhagen where he formed the COMA parties - acid house parties which pulled enormous crowds. From 1990 and onwards he became famous for his own band ‘Dr. Baker’ who had his first pan European hit ‘KAOS’ (which has been sampled by the likes of MAW, FSOL. The Shamen and David Morales) and as an A&R person he signed The KLF, The Shamen, Moby and Dance To Trance to his Scandinavian Coma label and had a big rundown of chart success.
