Two rare, early albums by the virtuoso trumpeter, Arturo Sandoval : : "Arturo Sandoval y Su Grupo" (1981), and "Arturo Sandoval y Su Grupo" (1982), both originally issued on the Areito label. Both albums were co-directed by the Latin-Jazz arranger Hilario Durán and feature Jorge Reyes, one of the best bass players in Cuba today. The new Malanga label was established to uncover outstanding rare Cuban recordings, locked away in vaults collecting dust - and two years of extensive investigation in Havana's Areíto studio archives have brought many gems to light. Malanga CDs have been digitised directly from the original masters, and many have never been on CD before. These editions have 20-page booklets featuring previously unissued photos and English and Spanish texts, written by important Cuban musicologists and journalists.
