· The Cuban Pearls collection offers us a special tribute to the vitality of the bands and the creativity of artists in the forties and fifties, through a series of sons, danzones, chachachàs and other magnificent, emblematic pieces, which appeared in the port of Dakar at that time, brought over by Cuban sailors.
· Father of New Yorkan salsa and repository of Cuba’s African heritage, « son » - a multi-facetted rural genre – is a matrix that subsequently bore fruits in an incomparable number of musical styles such as Son-montuno, guaracha and danzon or was combined with strokes of more ancient forms like the punto or the changui.
· Soneros de ayer y de hoy is the second volume of the Cuban Pearls Collection, compiled by West Africa’s genius producer Ibrahima Sylla.
· Featuring Celina Gonzalez, Beny Moré (or his white rival Roberto Faz), this is a tribute to the great voices of the soneros, reminding us of the Cuba of yore.
