Between late 1953 and 1960, the famous actor, comedian and television host Jackie Gleason (1916-1987) recorded a series of best selling vocal albums, backed by star trumpeter Bobby Hackett (1915-1976) with a large orchestra conducted by Gleason.
This 4CD set contains all their collaborations on a single release for the first time - including the albums Music For The Love Hours and That Moment, previously unissued on CD, and the complete albums : , Music To Make You Misty, Music, Martinis And Memories, Music To Remember Her, Music To Change Her Mind & Music For Lovers Only - plus tracks originally issued only on singles and compilations.
Although the material is mainly jazz standards and Hackett’s playing is certainly full of jazz feeling, these recordings really belong to that category of light music that was known in the 50’s & 60’s as ‘lounge music’, and these days, easy listening - but they will still naturally be of interest to many jazz fans.
