In 1930’s America Charlie Agnew led one of the best sweet bands around. Regularly appearing on the radio in such shows as The Yeast Foam Show, The Armandes Face Cream Program and The Lucky Strike Magic Carpet Show.
These recordings are taken from ‘Live’ radio shows from The Armande Face Cream Show in 1932. Originally the concept of the album was to include all advertisements and verbal interchange just as they would have been broadcast, but in the production process it was felt that most of the material was highly repetitive and that the removal of superfluous material left a lot more space for extra tracks. These rare recordings have miraculously survived the rigours of time allowing us to peep back to what must now seem a totally alien era.
