· Azul is a unique international Hammond organ-led band with a Brazilian twist - centred around the talents of US R&B Hammond/piano ace Charlie Wood - with São Paulo trumpet star Walmir Gil.
· Guitarist Webster Santos brings his groove from Salvador, Brazil, and Azul’s debut album is moulded together with polished contemporary R&B production from London percussionist Chris Wells, who also composed all 11 tracks, and played bass synth.
· The album was recorded in Memphis, Sao Paulo and London - and had a limited release in 2004, but is now reissued with full UK availability.
· Charlie Wood was formally organist with Albert King, and has performed with such musical luminaries as B.B. King, George Coleman & Rufus Thomas. Walmir Gil is one of Brazil's most respected musicians, and has worked & recorded with Caetano Veloso, Ivan Lins, Djavan, to mention but a few.
· Webster Santos has performed with a multitude of Brazilian artists including Daniela Mercury, Chico César, Caetano Veloso & Gilberto Gil. Londoner Chris Wells is a Brazilian specialist who has also recorded and performed with Paul McCartney, Luciano Pavarotti, Carla Bley, Randy Brecker & many others.
