► JB Lenoir followed in the footsteps of Muddy Waters and many others, migrating from Mississippi to Chicago where he started his first band in 1950

► His disarming high register vocals and use of two sax players marked him out from the crowd but he only had one hit -- "Mamma Talk to your Daughter"

► This selection was recorded just after that success -- a mix of sophisticated blues and hard rocking 12 bar numbers

► Lenoir later became well known in Europe thanks to John Mayall's support but died in 1967
