• The Croatian band Kries (pronounced: Kreeyes) release this second album Kociani just before UK appearances at Celtic Connections 2008 and the Half the World week at London’s Pizza in the Park, both at the end of January. Strong coverage in Froots and the music press is promised.
• The new album is produced by Mouth Music’s Martin Swan (who did such a fine job on Nuru Kane’s Sigil album in 2006) - with the lead vocals of charismatic Mojmir Novakovic still very much a central feature.
• Their debut album Ivo i Mara", released in 2004, was a Froots Playlist choice with a track on their cover disc, and received excellent reviews in Songlines and other music press.
• In the Spring of 2007 three new musicians joined the band (electric guitar, bass and drums) - giving a more full, and more varied sound. However, the direction of Kries remains the same : to take inspiration from traditional Croatian songs, and the weave their own vision and modern influences into an individual musical style, equally suitable for dancing or relaxed introspection.
• The new album Kocijani" (pronounced:Kotsiyani), named after a small village in Gorski Kotar, a lush green area in north-west Croatia. The band spent some time there, sharing their thoughts, walking in the woods and by the River Kupa, and allowing nature to help the creative process.
