• Kill the DJ! is not the first label you would call to mind for the release of an exploratory singer/songwriter album, in the new-style folk manifestation. But he comes to the label via a compilation by DJ Chloé; and having arrived there, his album is worth closer scrutiny

• Jason’s folk music has the taste of the man’s experience as a wanderer. Recorded in only a few days in a Parisian flat, (ouest) is a record filled with dodgy guitar strings, heady tambourines and a dented saxophone. But in all of this, it is unselfconscious.

• Primarily, it is not about folk either. Instead, it does bewitching tunes, gently strummed on the guitar.

• And the last track ‘Baby’s Eye’ is the kind of enchanting lullaby you can never get tired of.
