Orange Roses is the enchanting new album from Rebecca Hollweg – nine mellow, melodic songs with tinges of country, folk, jazz and pop - with almost all her own words and music. She is an engaging singer with a pure, natural voice and an original style of songwriting.
She uses the same superb band as her previous album June Babies (2001) which received praise from – Q, The Sunday Times, The Guardian, etc : Andy Hamill (bass and chromatic harmonica), Mike Outram (guitars), Phil Peskett (piano), Tom Gordon (drums and percussion), plus Julian Ferraretto (violin, viola and string arrangements).
The album was produced by Rebecca with her partner Andy Hamill - whose credits include 4 Hero, Mark Murphy, Carleen Anderson, Jeb Loy Nichols, Nitin Sawhney, amongst many others.
Rebecca Hollweg has played sessions for Janice Long on Radio 2 and Tom Robinson on Radio 6, appeared on Radio 4's Woman's Hour, supported Roger McGuinn of The Byrds and Paul Carrack (formerly of Squeeze and Mike & The Mechanics) on their UK tours. She has played London venues including The South Bank Centre, Ronnie Scott's, The Borderline and the 606 Club, as well as numerous concerts throughout the UK.
