• West of the Moon is the sixth album by Tuatara - the alternative US rock band composed of principle members Peter Buck and Scott McCaughey of REM, Barrett Martin of the Screaming Trees, bassist Kevin Hudson, horn players Dave Carter and Craig Flory, and percussionist Elizabeth Pupo-Walker.
• Guest vocalists are plentiful and include names such as British soul singer Adama, American songstress Jessy Greene, Cirque De Solei vocalist Gina Sala, and usual suspects John Wesley Harding, and Sufi poet Coleman Barks.
• West of The Moon is the companion disc to East Of The Sun (summer 2007), but has more of an old school R&B groove, with touches of Northern Soul, mournful Americana and Middle Eastern elements.
• Initially formed as a band to write and record songs to be used in film soundtracks, Tuatara quickly found a creative synergy between its members - growing into an alternative super-group that would produce a diverse repertoire across six albums.
• The four Tuatara albums on the Fast Horse label are now released in the UK for the first time, by Discovery Records - and are featured in the special REM issue of Q Magazine (April 2008)
