• Two of the best ever trumpet/flugelhorn players, filmed live : the Clark Terry Quintet featuring Duke Jordan at the Club Montmartre, Copenhagen, in 1985; and Shorty Rogers and His Giants featuring Lou Levy & Joe Maini, filmed at two American TV shows in 1962.

• Clark Terry, star trumpeter with the orchestras of Ellington, Basie, Quincy Jones and Charlie Barnet, amongst others, is seen here playing in a quartet. Shorty Rogers appears with two different line-ups, including Gary LeFebvre, a 27-year-old Gary Peacock, Mel Lewis, Pete Jolly and Larry Bunker (shortly before the drummer began his long association with Bill Evans).

• The second show is valuable in that it offers a rare chance to watch the outstanding alto saxophonist Joe Maini (1930-1964) - even though the image quality is less than perfect. Mainri was a friend and disciple of Charlie Parker, but died tragically at 34, while apparently playing Russian roulette. This show appears here on DVD for the first time ever.
