► From his early days as a member of the legendary Flatlanders with fellow Lubbock musicians Joe Ely and Jimmy Dale Gilmour, Butch Hancock has built a reputation as one of the Lone Star State's best singer/songwriters. The Austin Chronicle called him "a national treasure of the Republic of Texas"
► During the late ‘70s he began making a series of low-key independent recordings of his own songs -- mostly released by himself on cassette
► The title -- West Texas Waltzes and Dust-Blown Tractor Tunes -- says it all. A set of pared down ballads accompanied by acoustic guitar and harmonica evoking life in a land of dirt roads and open plains
