► From his early days as a member of the legendary Flatlanders with fellow Lubbock musicians Joe Ely and Jimmy Dale Gilmour, Butch Hancock has built a reputation as one of the Lone Star State's best singer/songwriters. The Austin Chronicle called him "a national treasure of the Republic of Texas"
► During the late ‘70s he began making a series of low-key independent recordings of acoustic ballads -- mostly released by himself on cassette
► "The Wind's Dominion" (1979) was a fuller studio recording than previous releases. The band lineup includes drums, bass, fiddle, mandolin etc -- Ponty Bone plays accordion, Lloyd Maines pedal steel while the other two Flatlanders provide harmony vocals
