Un Solo Amor is Cuban ‘sonero’ Felix Baloy’s latest recording; romantic and soothing, laid back and jazzy. With a big brassy band that perfectly complements the stunning range of his voice, Baloy once again creates a textbook study in Cuban singing using vocal stops, throaty growls and improvisations.
Born in eastern Cuba in 1944, Baloy’s earliest influence was the great Benny More. He went on to work as a singer with Orquesta of Elio Reve Snr., Son 14, Adalberto Alvarez, and Orquesta America - before being recorded with the Afro-Cuban All-Stars by Nick Gold, when the famous Buena Vista Social Club album was being made. Baloy toured with the BVSC stars over the following years.
Bringing the warmth of the Caribbean, to the world. - Independent, UK.
Previously just a part player in the Buena Vista phenomenon, Baloy shows the depth of talent that Havana still has to offer. - The Times.
