Gun Club’s 1981 debut album Fire of Love became an indie cult classic with it’s amalgam of psychobilly, blues and punk.
Larger Than Live! is a previously unreleased live album, recorded in 1992, featuring Gun Club’s founder and leader, Jeffrey Lee Pierce - one of rock’s memorable lead vocalists, guitarists & songwriters - and charismatic performer. This album contains nearly 80 minutes of high-power indie rock.
Pierce was born near Los Angeles. From the mid-70’s, he produced fanzines, wrote reviews and was president of the Blondie fan club. Inspired by bands like Television & the Cramps, he formed the Creeping Ritual in 1980, changing the name to Gun Club soon after.
They released a number of albums over the following years, with erratic success due to Pierce’s often wild drug & alcohol-fuelled life. He died of a brain haemorrhage in 1996.
