First time on one album -- all of Professor Longhair's recordings up to 1957. Double CD with 46 tracks
Pianist/vocalist Roy Byrd -- aka Professor Longhair -- was a true original whose joyous and idiosyncratic music made him a hugely influential New Orleans legend, though for many years until his rediscovery in 1971 he remained an unsung hero unable to make a living out of music
Includes "Mardi Gras in New Orleans" and several songs which are recognizable as the templates for hits by Little Richard, Fats Domino & Jerry lee Lewis. As Elvis' biographer, Albert Goldman, wrote: "Professor Longhair gave Elvis Presley his Blue Suede Shoes voice"
