► Flautist Herbie Mann opted for the bass clarinet on this 1957 album "Great Ideas of Western Mann" -- a fine, low-pressure set with Jack Sheldon (tp), Jimmy Rowles (p), Buddy Clark (b) & Mel Lewis (d)

► In addition there are four tracks recorded a month later with Mann reverting to flute. The personnel is the same minus Sheldon.
