o Rodrigo Leão is a Portuguese musician and composer, who was the co-founder of Madredeus, in 1985 (and prior to that, the band Sétima Legião, in 1982). He released his first solo album in 1992, and a few years later left both bands to concentrate on his own composing and recording.

o “O Mundo” is a 2CD compilation of his work between 1993 and 2006 - and features guest appearances from Beth Gibbons (of Portishead), Ryuichi Sakamoto, Brazilian singer Adriana Calcanhotto and Fado singer Lula Pena.

o Leão’s solo work explores a combination of traditional Portuguese music, contemporary classical and pop-rock. He plays keyboards & synthesizers, and uses a wide selection of musicians, including a string orchestra.

o His 2004 album, “Cinema”, was a hugely successful album in Portugal and Spain, and across mainland Europe.
