• La Papa Verde (‘green potatoes’ in Spanish) are a well-established Latin band, based in Cologne - with a style that brings to mind Manu Chao and Les Negresses Vertes.

• Their 2nd CD, “Ich verstehen nicht kann“ (I not can understand) which is the grammatically wrong phrase used by foreigners in Germany, features their trademark mixture of Reggae, Punk, Cumbia, Ska and Salsa.

• This ‘mestizo’ band were formed in 2002 when a Chilean, a Mexican and a Columbian met with four german musicians and let their different cultures fuse together - singing against oppression, war, social injustice and for a better world.

• The main influence for their sizzling style comes from the capital of the so called ‘mestizo’ scene, Barcelona - where musicians like Manu Chao, Dani “El Mono Loco“ from Macaco or Ojos de Brujo started this fiery and politically explosive mixture of styles.
