French composer born in Santiago de Chile in 1964, Marco-Antonio Perez-Ramirez did not follow traditional classical training. Having acquired, early on in his career, the basics of the folk music of his native country, he then studied the guitar under Alberto Ponce, did graduate work in maths, finally turning his attention to musical composition with Sergio Ortega. The big orchestral numbers on this recording, composed between 2002 – 2005, truly reflect the music and culture of his native country.
