• On DVD for the first time, this edition presents the Charles Mingus quintet in 1972, with Hamiet Bluiett, and an unusual guest appearance from Ellington’s star trumpeter Cat Anderson.

• A bonus to this DVD, has been added : the complete 1968 Thomas Reichman film “Mingus in Greenwich Village” - mostly shot one night in November 1966, while Mingus was waiting in his Greenwich Village loft in New York for the arrival of the police with an eviction order.

• Charles Mingus, bass throughout, with: Joe Gardner, trumpet; Hamiet Bluiett, baritone sax & clarinet; John Foster, piano; Roy Brooks, drums - and Cat Anderson, trumpet, guest star on “Perdido”. Recorded at the Philarmonie, Berlin, Germany, November 5, 1972.

• And on the bonus film, with : Lonnie Hillyer, trumpet; Charles McPherson, alto sax; John Gilmore, tenor sax; Walter Bishop, piano; Danny Richmond, drums.

• Total Time: 100 min. - B&W / Mono - Compatible with all DVD players.
