• Reissue of this important 1966 album by the German experimentalmusician, Gunter Hampel - generally regarded as one of his best. This washis second album and his only ESP recording.

• Hampel plays vibes, flute, and bass clarinet and is joined by WillemBreuker on saxes, Piet Veening on bass and Pierre Courbois on percussion.There are three extended compositions/improvisations, including"Heriocredolphysiognomystery" (dedicated to Eric Dolphy).

• Hampel is an important figure on the European jazz scene, especially hiswork in developing free jazz in the 60s. He has worked with a long list of wellknown jazz musicians including : Pharao Sanders, Sunny Sharrock,JohnMcLaughlin, Marion Brown John Tchicai, Benny Waters Jeanne LeeBarre Phillips bass and Steve McCall dm (co-founder of the AACM,Chicago).
