• Ahimsa are a breathtaking quintet comprised of 3 South Indian classical virtuosos with two top-notch German jazz musicians. The brilliant, sometimes furious interplay of the group is reminiscent of John McLaughlin’s Shakti.

• The group is led by the virtuoso and soulful playing of violin star S.Radhakrishna, who has worked with Ravi Shankar; with R. Yogaraja playing mrudangam and ganjira (who has worked with L. Subramaniam,Yehudi Menuhin, etc); and top tabla player Udai Mazumdar (who has worked with Hariprasad Chaurasia, etc).

• The two Western jazz-based musicians are : innovative acoustic/electric guitarist, Matthias Müller and the 6-String bassist Armin Metz. Müller has previously worked with L. Subramaniam, and Metz with Talvin Singh - so both are well-versed in Indo-jazz projects.

• The name 'Ahimsa' (doing no harm) is a Jainist religious doctrine, which formed the basis of Gandhi’s passive resistance approach.
