Funkadelic, along with their sister group, Parliament blended elements of 60s psychedelia with blues, deep soul and funk to create a unique black funk rock.

Initially inspired by Jimi Hendrix and Sly Stone, group leader George Clinton’s remarkable imagination would create a unique musical form called P-Funk which was as visually outrageous as it was audibly funky. Blessed with a supremely talented nucleus of Bernie Worrell, Bootsy Collins and George Clinton, Funkadelic achieved major commercial success before the 80s disdain of everything 70s resulted in critical and commercial neglect for the world’s biggest and baddest funk crew. The recent discovery, however, of P-Funk by everyone from Snoop Doggy Dog to the Red Hot Chili Peppers has brought these classic recordings back to the prominence they so rightly deserve.
