• A rarely heard jam session, recorded live at Birdland, New York, June 30, 1950, and only previously issued (in much worse sound quality) on a long out of print Italian album. Miles Davis plays solos on all tracks surrounded by Fats Navarro (who would die a week later), J.J. Johnson, Tadd Dameron and Art Blakey.
• Contains an amazing quartet version of “Embraceable You” by Miles and the rhythm section, and the trumpeter’s only existing reading of Thelonious Monk’s “Eronel”. This music documents Miles in his transition from bebop to cool.
