• The eclectic cellist Ivan Hussey, alias Celloman, releases his 4th album Sharptown - and like the preceding studio albums, it’s a tapestry of colours that travels through a myriad of different styles : Middle Eastern and African rhythms, Eastern and Western classically inspired melodies, hypnotic harmonies and driving funky Bass & Drums.
• Sharptown also features strong vocal performances by a variety of guest singers : Zimbabwean Soul Star Thabani, Kenyan born Beatrice Muniu. Sultry Soul singer Oroh Angiama, performance poet Poppy Seed, opera singer Melinda Hughes, the calming voices of PaTala singing in Sanskrit and a great performance by the up and coming Eliza Doolittle.
• The album completes a trilogy of 3 albums that tell a story of ‘Celloman’ Ivan Hussey’s life so far. As a cellist Ivan has worked with, among others - Mick Jagger, Lynden David Hall, Incognito, Take that, Third World, M People, Gabrielle, Duran Duran, Sonique, Soul II Soul, The Lighthouse Family and The Reggae Philharmonic Orchestra. He has appeared at Glastonbury Festival, Womad, and many major venues.
• ‘… but the star is Hussey's cello, proof that the instrument can be surprising, sensuous and funky - all at the same time.’ – The Observer.
