• Previously unissued footage, for the first time ever on DVD : his was one of the nearly fifty concerts performed by the so called “Giants of Jazz”, a true all-star group that toured Europe during the last few months of 1971 and the first few months of 1972.

• This band put an almost retired Thelonious Monk back on the road, and reunited him with Art Blakey. The other stars are also impressive : Dizzy Gillespie, Sonny Stitt, and Kai Winding - plus bassist Al McKibbon, probably the least known member of the Giants, but whose extensive résumé includes much of the bass work for the 1940-50 Miles Davis-Gil Evans’ “Birth of the Cool” sessions.

• This concert was recorded at the Tivoli Gardens, Copenhagen, on November 9, 1971. Each track is a showcase for a featured star, and the concert ends with an exciting version of Dizzy’s ‘Night in Tunisia’ with Blakey in full swing !
