| A wonderful opportunity to compare two recordings of the delightful Nursery Suite, one conducted by the composer, recorded at the Kingsway Hall in 1931 and the second from one of the most highly regarded exponents of Elgar’s music, Sir Mark Elder, recorded in the Henry Wood Hall in 2006 and clearly demonstrates the talents of the Royal College of Music. An added piece of special interest is the 1928 recorded of the Elgar arranged National Anthem with Arnold Grier (organ) and the Philharmonic Choir, ‘God save the King’ a pure golden moment from the past. All this at a budget price! |
