• "Trapeze" (Burt Lancaster, Tony Curtis, Gina Lollobrigida) was Malcolm Arnold's first international success as a film composer. His score, mixing memorable original themes with existing circus related music, mirrors the kaleidoscopic life which the film so vividly portrays

• Victor Young was already a seasoned and prolific soundtrack composer when he produced the music for Cecil B DeMille's extravaganza "The Greatest Show on Earth" in 1952. The film itself contained songs but this is an entirely orchestral version of the score, in which Young skilfully arranges catchy melodies and old favourites alongside two sections composed by himself
