• Fania Niang is from Sénegal, and based in Paris since the 1980s. She is a fascinating singer, composer, performer and author. Her mother was a percussionist, dancer, and choreographer.

• She has worked with different groups: the legendary Touré Kunda, and then the multi-million-selling ‘lambada’ group, Kaoma. She was also a model for Jean-Paul Gautier for 3 years.

• Fania’s debut album, "Sopi", came out in 2000 - followed by "Naturel" in 2004. This new CD “Silmakha", which means blind in Wolof, is released on her own Passion Music label.

• On "Silmakha", Fania, creates a warm, passionate, multi-genre musical adventure - backed by a fine band featuring kora, accordeon, guitars, bass & drums.
