• Half an hour of previously unissued Coltrane & Dolphy. For the first time ever on a single collection, John Coltrane’s two 1962 Birdland performances with Eric Dolphy, in their entirety, including the previously unissued February 16 broadcast.

• The sound quality is sometimes far from perfect, but this is never before heard Coltrane with Dolphy!

• This marked their next to last recorded encounters. Apparently their last preserved collaboration is an unissued live performance at the Showboat in Philadelphia from November 18, 1963, where, according to discographers, Dolphy sat in for “Body and Soul” only. Dolphy could also be present on a December 1962 private tape that was also recorded at the Showboat, but this tape is also unissued and the information is unconfirmed.
